The Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2021 were held at Kolkata on March 17 this year. The industry favoured us with a huge turnout despite the latent threat of the coronavirus. Due to the pandemic and the lockdown, there was a paucity of releases in the last two years and as a result, we were honouring the winners from films released in 2020 and 2021. Paran Bandopadhyay made history by winning the Best Actor's trophy for Tonic at the age of 81. Ranjit Mallick winning the Lifetime Achievement Award provided another historic moment. Winners like Jaya Ahsan, Anirban Bhattacharya, Srijit Mukherji, Anik Dutta brought the house down with their heartfelt speeches. RANJIT MALLICK
His performance in his debut film, Mrinal Sen's Interview (1971), fetched him the Best Actor trophy at the prestigious Karlovy Vary festival. Ranjit Mallick also worked with Satyajit Ray's Shakha Proshakha (1990), where again his performance got praised. Ranjit Mallick was born on September 28, 1944 in Kolkata.
