VEDANSHI PATHAK INTERVIEWS PRAJAKTA KOLI, WHO HAS MADE A NAME FOR HERSELF THROUGH HER QUIRKY INTERNET VIDEOS AND WILL SOON MAKE HER BIG TICKET DEBUT WITH JUG JUGG JEEYO
VEDANSHI PATHAK
MOSTLY SANE!

The princess of digital content creation, Prajakta Koli, started out with a dream of becoming a radio jockey. A brush with Sudeep Lahiri (Vice President, Content and Strategy at One Digital Entertainment) pushed her into making content for YouTube and the rest is history. “I remember Sudeep Lahiri telling me – ‘Hey you have got great energy, have you thought about making YouTube content’. And at that point in life, I was honestly in a space where anything would have been better than waking up every day and going to the radio station. So, I took a blind leap and surprisingly found my vocation,” she recalls. Her claim to fame came on World Mental Health Day in 2016, when the internet audience flooded her with accolades, thanks to her #IPledgeToBeMe video. “It was a campaign where I championed self-love. It spoke against body shaming, spoke for body positivity and the response was so much more than what I had expected,” she reveals. Every millennial who owns a smartphone dreams of becoming the next internet sensation and a few have definitely made it big. Prajakta is unfazed by the competition and takes it in her stride. “The only way you can stand out is if you have a personality that no one else has. And I think the fact that so many creators are doing that, tells that there is no competition. No two creators are the same, then how do they compete,” she reasons.

THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN STAND OUT IS IF YOU HAVE A PERSONALITY THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS. AND I THINK THE FACT THAT SO MANY CREATORS ARE DOING THAT, TELLS THAT THERE IS NO COMPETITION. NO TWO CREATORS ARE THE SAME, THEN HOW DO THEY COMPETE
