Did Jackie Really Say That?

You’d expect a rigorous Instagrammer like Jacqueline Fernandez to have unabashedly pledged her allegiance to the world of the web. But Jackie is not as much of an open book (profile, if you’ll let us) as she seems. “I’m not saying it’s not an amazing medium—it is! I love that people can just let out who they are and screen it for the world to see. But,” she adds, “It doesn’t work that way for me anymore. I mean, when I had 10 or 20 followers, right at the start, it was cool for me to be a goofball.”

She laughs, and remembers when she used to do the strangest things and stick ’em up on social media for public perusal. “Friends of mine and I would stuff cottonballs up our noses and bounce around the house, ODing on Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness; and it would be all over our walls! But now, I can’t do things like that. I have to think a hundred times before posting something because anything could offend anyone. And because it’s part of my job, it feels like work. I’ve stopped enjoying it ,it just feels like an obligation.”
