How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse
8 Days|January 25, 2018

Create an app to destroy the undead, or dance your way out of danger, according to Benjamin Heng and Alaric, stars and producers of Singapore’s first zombie flick, Zombiepura.

Jocelyn Lee

WHO THEY ARE: Benjamin Heng, 41, and Alaric, 38, who have experience battling for survival in a zombie attack — on screen, that is. They’re the stars and co-producers of Singapore’s first zombie movie, Zombiepura. The $1mil comedy, slated for release in the second half of the year, is helmed by local director Jacen Tan, 34, and revolves around a zombie outbreak in an army camp where a lazy reservist soldier (Alaric) and a gungho sergeant (Benjamin) are forced to work together to survive. “This idea has been six years in the making. Jacen saw something in the chemistry that Benjamin and I have and approached us to act in his movie,” Alaric says. “We liked his script so much that we suggested coming on board as producers, and we started looking for investors and funding.” Benjamin adds: “I guess it all boils down to the right timing, given how popular the army and zombie genres are these days. If we did this six years ago, it might not have worked.”
