AS MY DISCUSSION WITH SULAJJA FIRODIA
Motwani, founder & CEO, Kinetic Green, began, I realised not only is she cheerful but also has an amazing sense of business. Our tête-à-tête began with the inception of Kinetic Green. She went down memory lane, by saying, “After Kinetic exited from the joint venture with Mahindra & Mahindra, we diverted our attention towards a completely new business and decided to begin a journey towards a greener tomorrow from scratch.” Of course, she had the legacy but what it takes to start from zero is courage and passion for what one is doing. With the same qualities she established Kinetic Green Energy &Power Solutions, today better known as Kinetic Green. She explains the idea, “We were looking for new avenues and sunrise sectors. Also, we were keen on working in the B2C segment. Hence, we decided to enter in the electric vehicles segment.”
Of course the electric technology is far different than conventional vehicles. Touching upon it, she says, “There is a fundamental difference. EVs are more about software and electronics instead of mechanics. As a result, manufacturing processes are different. The advantage for us was that we did not have any baggage of existing investment into plants and machineries. Therefore, it was easy for us to stay aligned with new trends. So, I feel we are at the right place at the right time.”
