WHILE MOUNTING A LARGE SIZE BEARING over a straight shaft with a withdrawal sleeve in between, a customer faces a possible failure in accuracy resulting in disruption to the production timeline. Schaeffler’s Mounting Manager software, an online tool available to all customers at no additional cost, helps it meet the challenge.
FACING PRODUCTION DISRUPTION
Large-size bearings (LSBs) are widely used in heavy industries where machineries are in continuous motion. These bearings can operate in harsh physical conditions and withstand high loads. Grinding is one of the key steps in cement production. One of the applications of LSBs is in FLS Roller Press used in the cement sector. The FLS Roller Press offers a costsaving grinding system and is in continuous motion for long periods. As these bearings face tough conditions and operate continuously, failure may occur.
Reasons for failure can be many, but in similar application having similar bearing, it is observed that the bearing inner ring rotates over withdrawal sleeve. There may be a rotation of sleeve as well over the shaft. Failure of these bearings can intervene in production timelines and can halt further operations. The impact of failure can be huge if production losses are accounted.
