Milk fat and SNF (Solids Not Fat) are the most important constituents of milk as these are used as the basis for fixing the price of milk at milk collection centers.

INTRODUCTION

The primary standard method used for the estimation of fat and SNF is Gerber method. Although this method is quite popular all over the world it has limitations like chemical-intensive, labor-intensive and time-consumimg. On the other hand, milk analyzer (also known as Milkoscan/Lactoscan/Fatscan, etc.) is a convenient, rapid and automated alternative to the standard chemical method used in dairy laboratories.
