The current floods and threat of yet more rain to come have left many people across KwaZuluNatal and the Eastern Cape feeling anxious and overwhelmed. Some flood victims have been left homeless, while others are still dealing with waterlogged buildings and businesses.
For those struggling to remove excess standing water in hard-to-reach places, Johan Kruger, national sales manager for Husqvarna South Africa, offers some advice: "Being prepared is half the victory. Regardless of whether you have a waterlogged room from this recent flood or if you just want to be better prepared for a future plumbing malfunction, there are ways to get rid of the water as soon as possible."
Kruger shares six steps to take when removing excess water from your flooddamaged home or other structure:
• Step 1-
The first thing to do is to turn off (and disconnect, if possible) electricity points that are affected before you go anywhere near the water, as the risk of electrocution is real.
