There is more to workspace architecture and design that goes farther than a functional space. The architecture of contemporary offices, with its emphasis on efficiency and clarity in design, fails to appreciate the culture inherent to a workspace.
Focussed on getting the job done, these offices may not necessarily realise the human element at work, let alone explore social concepts within the workspace. Hence, the design of AICL Communications, a branding consultancy firm, moves away from the archetypal model to a programme that brings together a delegated yet hybridised approach to its zoning.
The initial brief given to SAV Architecture Design, an interior and architectural design studio with offices in London, Mumbai and Goa, was a collaborative discussion with the client. Emphasis was laid on understanding the future of working environments especially in the industry.
Since creative methods have a lot of ‘fuzzy thinking’, SAV conceptualized this into a mix of ‘fuzzy spaces’.
By using the office’s open-plan layout, the design team created a series of overlapping programmes that alternate between living, work and landscape spaces.
