During covid times there was high anxiety amongst employees – not only about themselves and their family’s health and lives but also about continuity of job and income. These uncertain times also impacted the employee performances, and their job satisfaction levels. HR heads reveal these challenges at their organizations and the initiatives which they have adopted to improve the job satisfaction levels among the employees.
JOB SATISFACTION – UP OR DOWN
Liberty General Insurance took a courageous stand of ‘Put People First’ – which is one of the key values that the company abides by. Priya Vasudevan, President of Human Resources at the company share the details about the comprehensive program adopted for the employees: “Living this value, we introduced WECARE, our comprehensive program for employees in covid times. We paid increments and bonuses on time and as planned, despite the challenging economic environment. We were also one of the early movers in flexible working arrangements. All this collectively has contributed towards our employees feeling more engaged and secured during the covid times.”
Shwetha Ram, Head of Human Resources at Future Generali Life Insurance, says it is difficult to view this linearly. Job satisfaction or the ability of employees to do more, involve themselves in strategic work has certainly increased. This is one side of the coin; digital fatigue, and high burnout may pose to be another side of this coin and may tend to influence how employees perceive their jobs at the end of the day.
