To others, they’re reassuring. Either way, wedding planning is full of them: anyone who is newly engaged needs to get used to making decisions – and lots of them. Bride Elizabeth and groom Andrew are undoubtedly the type who prefer plenty of choice. They shortlisted a whopping 16 venues in their hunt for a place to celebrate their marriage – and, incredibly, their final destination, Town House Hamilton, wasn’t even on that list.
“We viewed most of them too,” laughs Elizabeth. “We needed a venue that was completely disability-friendly for certain guests and within an hour’s drive from Glasgow to make sure they were comfortable. We were also after a place with character. We visited several that were gorgeous in terms of their location, but their function rooms were fairly standard, with no defining features.”
Instead of giving in to the frustration, Andrew had another idea. “He threw the Town House into the mix as a ‘wildcard’, having assisted at an Ups & Downs Theatre Group show there a couple of years ago,” remembers Elizabeth. “He knew that it met our needs. When I walked in, I was in love. It had so many possibilities!”
