Rethinking the rules of a veil, donned in pastel summer florals, and bejewelled crown, Kriti Sanon blossoms in the most joyous trends of this season

Princess Diaries

“MY PERSONAL STYLE IS ABOUT COMFORT, AND WHAT SUITS MY BODY,” says Kriti Sanon. And that’s evident when she arrives for her first-ever Brides Today cover shoot, dressed in a tank top, cropped boyfriend jeans, and white sneakers. Even so, she commands an undeniable star presence. Her skin is flawless, her posture statuesque, and she wears Tarun Tahiliani’s bridal couture like a dream.

She shares a warm rapport with the designer and shoots at his Gurugram headquarters until the minute she has to leave for the airport. How does she unwind in the car after a long working day? She snacks on samosas and bread pakoras. “I don’t follow a diet,” she says. “I try to eat healthily and make sure I have a balanced diet, but I don’t restrict myself.”

Best known for her roles in Raabta, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Luka Chuppi, here she talks about the romance of small gestures, her fuss-free beauty and fitness routines, and her dream wedding—a big fat Punjabi affair in a small European island.

What does romance mean to you?

I’m a die-hard romantic. To me, the effort is sexy. It’s about the little things you do for your partner without an occasion, without being asked—say someone knows I’m feeling cold and offers their jacket without me asking for it. We tend to take our partners for granted, and it’s important to continue to do what you did at the beginning of a relationship, even when that ‘honeymoon phase’ is gone. It’s nice once in a while to dress up for each other. Romance is more about gestures than material things.

What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
