TVS SCOOTERS: A STORY OF INNOVATION, PASSION, AND EVOLUTION
xBhp|December 2020 - January 2021
We take a look at the nearly 30-year long journey of TVS Scooters and what it is that keeps them going as they still ride on.

INDIA is the fastest-growing two-wheeler market in the world with manufacturers catering to the growing and changing demands. Ever since its inception, TVS Motor Company has taken pride in being a manufacturer that offers innovative, technologically superior and wide range of products backed by a robust and reliable customer service network.

The diverse portfolio of the brand includes two-wheelers ranging from premium and commuter motorcycles and, of course, scooters. Keeping customers at the core of their focus, TVS Motor Company’s scooter range builds on a heritage of close to 30 years, in order to provide mobility solutions which address a diverse range of requirements of the customer.

What started with TVS Scooty in 1994, transitioned to the bankable TVS Jupiter and now superior offerings like TVS NTORQ 125 and TVS iQube Electric, however, the ethos has remained the same. They really do have one for everyone! Here’s a little look at how their passion to serve their customers best has led TVS Motor Company to today.

It all started with the launch of TVS Scooty in 1994. Over the years, TVS Scooty has become synonymous with female mobility.

Staying true to their idea of continual development and evolution of their products, the ever-popular Scooty saw many iterations throughout. Each one of them with improvements and something new to boast of like the auto choke technology or the Scooty Pep+ in 2005 which boasted of a mobile charger, an industry first. With many relevant features, the Scooty rides on to this day celebrating its 25 years in 2019.

The TVS Scooty Zest 110, launched in 2014, defied all odds to become the ‘first 110cc scooter to scale Khardung La’ earning itself a place in India Book of Records. This feat was dubbed as Himalayan Highs – a popular property for scooter enthusiasts to traverse to the highest motorable pass.

With a stable offering like TVS Scooty, TVS Motor began to expand its portfolio. They launched the TVS WEGO in 2010 and it took the market by storm. The first iteration boasted of several industry-first features like Body Balance Technology, alloy wheels, LED taillamp and a segment-first gas-charged rear suspension. The 2012 edition introduced another segment-first in the form of a front disc brake. In 2015, it gained Synchronised Braking System (SBT) which reaffirmed the brand’s focus on rider safety.

Then came the flagship scooter from the TVS Scooter portfolio – TVS Jupiter. The 110cc scooter was launched with much fanfare in 2013. Complete with advanced features and predictably, segment-first, like a pass by switch, a low fuel indicator and the multicurve TCI ignition map that ensured optimum power and great fuel-efficiency in addition to easy rideability.
