Godzilla Vs Falcon

We drive the iconic Nissan GT-R alongside another icon, the Suzuki Hayabusa.

Godzilla Vs Falcon

IN this iteration of our Driver vs. Rider series we take two Japanese icons the Nissan GT-R and the Suzuki Hayabusa, the Godzilla and the Falcon to have oodles of fun. Can the beast on four wheels match the dazzling brilliance of the Hayabusa? Let’s find out as we get to know our four-wheeled friend!

THE SUAVE BEAST

Two wheels or four, speed speaks the same language for all. Talk of powerful engines ensconced in equally capable frames and chassis and the game becomes one of the raw thrust and the build-up of velocity that’s addictive and scary all at once. It hits the guts and that’s where you want to get hit again and again. That said, usually it is the two wheeled falcons that win on the power to weight front from the four wheeled cheetahs. Usually. Until something like the Nissan GT-R, fondly called the Godzilla, comes into the picture. And then things begin to blur. Even when looking straight ahead out of the windscreen.

I am driving ‘sedately’, the speedo in decent three digits and a black clad rider on a Suzuki Hayabusa floats alongside on my right. Well, usually you watch a bike like the Hayabusa come alongside and pull ahead with barely a twist of the rider’s right wrist but when you have your right foot on the throttle pedal of a Nissan GTR, the story can be different. He waves, gives a thumbs-up and takes off like a bat with its tail on fire.
