ELECTRIC CARS MAKE sense for more buyers than ever before, and there’s a steadily growing pool of excellent models to choose from. But naysayers will rightly point out there’s still one thing missing from the current crop: a really great driver’s car. Yes, a Tesla Model S will make you go giddy with its Formula 1 car-rivalling acceleration, but come to some corners and it will leave you a little underwhelmed.

Well, if any company can put that right, it’s Porsche – and the new Taycan seems to have all the right ingredients, including the lowest centre of gravity in the brand’s line-up. And this isn’t some highly impractical supercar; it has four doors, enough space for six-footers in the back and a decent-sized hatchback boot.
