Each issue, we show you how to set up a key piece of connected-home tech. This month…
Amazon Echo Spot
WHO YOU GONNA CALL?
Nestled discretely above the Spot’s screen is a tiny camera. If your pals have the Alexa app on their device or an Echo Spot or Echo Show at home, you can make video calls hands-free (or voice calls to any Echo device). The Drop In feature is ideal for quick communication with other Echo devices in your home, like if you want to ask what’s for dinner or check the baby is still snoozing in the nursery.
HERE’S LOOKING AT YOU
The Spot’s circular 2.5-inch, 480x480 pixel screen might be small, but it’s capable of displaying a world of information based on your voice commands: watch news, sport and weather reports, check out trailers before booking your next cinema trip, view today’s work schedule and keep tabs on your smart security camera feed. Our favourite? Line up your favourite tunes via Amazon Music and the Spot can display on-screen lyrics to help you sing along.
