Meet the handsets, VR platform and home tech that could just change your life.
Google wants to make your life simpler and smarter, and it’s just taken its biggest step towards achieving that with its latest fleet of exciting devices. At the centre of this new Google universe are the new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, which are packed full of Google juice. But it’s not just the handsets that are looking to run your life so that you don’t have to.
The big G has also launched Daydream, its new VR platform; Google Wifi, its answer to great internet at home; Chromecast Ultra, which streams 4K awesomeness direct to your TV; and Google Home, its amazing house assistant.
Google Pixel and Pixel XL
Say hello to the most Google-y phones ever created. The search giant has never been more involved in the production of a handset, and it’s treating us to two premium offerings in the shape of the Pixel and the Pixel XL. Each of these devices packs a whole heap of power, with a Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB of RAM on board; class-leading 12MP rear snappers; selfie-loving 8MP front cameras; plus fast-charging technology that ensures a quick blast before a night out will see you right through until the sun comes up the following morning.
All of that equates to super-slick performance and top-notch photos – two things we love from our smartphones, as it makes them ideal for gaming, video streaming and replacing your compact camera with. There’ll be no limit to your photography exploits, either, as Google is offering unlimited free cloud storage, via its Photos app, for all your snaps and videos taken on the Pixel phones – at full resolution. Take that, iPhone users!
