The 19th Kingsfold Steam & Vintage Rally, held over the weekend 23rd and 24th September, very nearly did not happen.
The heavy rains during the lead-up to the event had caused great concern, but with some last minute rearrangement of the various sections the show went ahead, and was, I believe a great success.
I arrived on the Saturday morning to find the ground conditions a lot better than I had expected, with just a few soft spots in the areas where the stationary engines were originally sited, but nothing to cause me, as a member of the visiting public, any concern.
This year the organisers had elected to have Ruston & Hornsby engines and products as the theme make, with a good cross-section of engines and pumps from that manufacturer on display; the models included PB6 (no bigger models in the PB range were present on Saturday) PT, PR, ZPR, AP, IP, 1HP and 2XHR.

Lister Conundrum?
Back in 2016 a discussion took place on Fozzer’s Forum about early Lister J type engines; as I have a very early Lister 2 ½ hp, I was interested and took part in the discussion. I have always had an interest in Lister engines, having nine in my shed, all of which are restored, except a spec 52 Lister A. I had never delved into the history of these engines as I considered that just about everything was known about them, through the work done by the late David Edgington, and information is readily available.
