Boss 429 Job 1 Update

We’ve successfully uncovered two prior owners, John Adamek and Gary Fohey, both with stories to tell.

1971-1976

Gary Fohey remembers cruising by the local Car-X muffler shop in 1971. He had a 1969 Mach 1, an R-code with 4.30 stump pullers that he had purchased new from Jack White Ford. Gary’s Mach 1 ended up being robbed of parts during an overnight maintenance visit at the local dealership. After some discussions with the dealer-ship, he was paid $3,500 for the Mustang as the dealer took ownership of the transmission less Mach 1.

With that wad of cash in his pocket, Gary knew where he was headed next. Sitting under the Car-X sign was the Boss 429. The owner of the car would roll it out of the shop every day and use it as a way to snag customers. Gary was snagged, though not for muffler work.
