1969 Che velle Restomod Build for the Road and for SEMA.

PRODUCT SHOWCASE

SEMA vehicles often negotiate a very curvy, and often curious, path from obscurity to having a spot in a manufacturer’s booth on the floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Many display cars at the show are privately owned and loaned to the various companies for use. Others are built specifically for the show and are owned by individual companies to show off their wares with the intention of drawing attendees into their booth. This 1969 big-block Chevelle falls into this second category.

When TMI was searching for display cars to fill their booth, there were two paths they could have taken. Either find a project and build it from scratch or find a car that was as complete as possible and work it over to display their custom interior kits. The deciding factor here became time. You see, SEMA has a nasty habit of sneaking up on you and once TMI decided they needed a second-generation Chevelle to highlight their products, it would then be only a few months until the big dance started. After searching around, TMI luckily found Mark Jackson and his 1969 Yenko-themed Chevelle that he was trying to part with.

A RADICAL SHIFT

When you're a teenager and the police know you by name, it's not usually because of your volunteer work or class-topping GPA. Not at all. That was especially true for Jeff Kainz when he was behind the wheel of his 1975 Camaro. In the '80s, while cruising his hometown in North Dakota, his buddies with police scanners often heard the police tell one another: \"Kainz is out on Main Street.\"
