It is not commonly known that, when it was getting back into car production soon after WW2, Morgan sold 56 chassis to coachbuilders and garages who went on to add bespoke bodywork to their customers’ specifications.
One of these rolling chassis was supplied to Motourist Ltd of Great North Road, London N2, which in turn passed it to Leacroft Sheet Metal Works of Egham, owned by racing drivers Gordon Watson and Robert (later Roberta) Cowell.
