The Long Stretch
Classic Ford|November 2017

Your projects: It’s taken longer than he’d care to admit, but Dean Trigwell’s dream of owning a Pro Street, stretched Pop is finally coming to fruition.

The Long Stretch

We all build projects for different reasons — and getting the car on the road for some is top priority, which means compromises have to be made. For others it’s the building and getting everything spot-on’s that’s the total enjoyment. Then there’s those that love their cars, but for one reason or another are forced to farm things out yet are totally involved — a sort of mixture of the two where the enthusiasm never dies, coupled with the love of seeing stuff steadily but expertly progress.

Dean Trigwell’s 100E really was started a long time ago and bought when 100Es were two-a-penny. That however, is not how this project started — originally intended to be a simple Pinto-powered build, the origins of this project are deep in the era when Pro Street was in full swing, although Dean’s passion for a V8-powered Pop has never gone away!

And when it comes to 100Es, there’s none more into them than Mick Wood and Chris Evans at Old Ford Auto Services (OFAS) although it’s Mick’s handiwork you mainly see before you. It’s well known the pair love ’em and have several examples as their own projects. This one though’s got a trick or two going on — a 302 Ford small block for starters while that front is nowhere near standard length — you could say in many ways it’s a long stretch, but now the sentence is coming to an end…
