Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams Retires
After 60 years behindthe wheel of rallyand racing cars, Barrie ‘Whizzo’Williams has decided to give up competitive motorsport at the age of 79.
With well over 1000 races under his belt, Barrie will continue his involvement in the club scene, including the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) of which he is a member, and the British Motorsport Marshals, where he serves as president.
“I’ve had a bloody good time racing,” he told Autosport, upon announcing his retirement. “It’s all I’ve ever really done and I’ve got huge memories. But I’ve got to be sensible. I still want to put something back into the sport that has given me so much.”
