Debut ride on Italian roads on MV Agusta’s practical, and accessible long distance touring model with optional semi-automatic transmission
Just about the most annoying part of riding any bike is getting stuck in traffic in town or country, and having to work the clutch lever back and forth as you plot a course through the massed array of tintops and trucks that you find yourself stuck behind. Sooner or later your left hand becomes weary and even starts to seize up – especially if you happen to be riding an older V-twin of the desmodromic persuasion fitted with a dry clutch, whose lever doubles as a high-pressure hand-grip workout tool.
Now Italian manufacturer MV Agusta is offering a way of countering that, via the newly launched updated version of its Turismo Veloce sports tourer fitted with the optional SCS/ Smart Clutch System. This essentially permits you to forget about using the clutch manually once you’ve started the bike and selected a gear, since from then on all functions of the clutch are literally out of your hands – well, hand – while still requiring you to change gear with your foot.
