Vespa SXL 150 vs Aprilia SR 150
BBC TopGear India|October 2016

We say: Distant cousins with two Different approaches. which one’s better?

Vespa SXL 150 vs Aprilia SR 150

What are these scooters doing here?

The Vespa was the first 150cc scooter in India this decade. It is more about the neo-retro styling than performance. Apart from the rectangular head lamp, the top-of-the-line SXL variant gets blacked-out alloys too. These elements add a layer of desirability to the already good-looking Vespa.

As Piaggio owns both brands, the decision to borrow the Vespa’s 150cc motor for the SR 150 was a no-brainer. While the Vespa is all about the show, the SR 150 has a lot of go. It looks racier than the SXL 150. The Aprilia comes in one trim only, and there are just two paint options on offer.

What do I get for my money?

As with any Vespa, you get pure Italian style. The SXL looks completely different from all those Japanese scooters. The 150cc motor is smooth and you know you’re not riding a regular scooter. This mill produces 11.4bhp and 11.5Nm. The seat is good for two, but could do with more padding.
