Ford's Big SUV Gets A Makeover

Despite the growing craze for SUVs in all sizes, a good hatchback is a must in every manufacturer’s arsenal if they want to make a mark in the Indian car market. On an average, seven out of the top 10 highest-selling cars are hatchbacks which is further proof that we are very much a small car market still. Ford hit the sweet spot with the Figo, when it was launched first in 2010 – a car which was fun-to-drive and offered many class-leading features. Over the years, the sales haven’t been as high as the beginning but the popularity of the brand is still high. Ford is aiming to convert the popularity into sales numbers with the latest avatar of the Figo and we think they stand a good chance.

Unlike most of the facelifts these days, this one isn’t a purely cosmetic one. There are two new engine options which now debut in the Figo, though we have driven them in other models in the Ford family. The 1.2-litre Dragon petrol with 95bhp and 120Nm, and the 1.5-litre Dragon petrol with 121bhp are now part of the Figo’s powertrain options and that is good news. The trusted 1.5-litre diesel completes the trilogy for the Figo.
