<p>John&rsquo;s Rod and Custom Picnic has been on the Victorian rodding calendar for three decades now. It started with a gathering of die-hard hot rod and custom mates. Over the following years the day grew into a full-blown event of all things old and cool. These days The Picnic has been stripped back to a more low key and manageable event aimed at the true rod and custom fans and not the various hangers-on and wannabes. In short, it&rsquo;s back to a hard-core day. This year&rsquo;s gathering proved even more so due to unfriendly weather providing cold conditions and the odd shower of rain. The Sunday of next year&rsquo;s Melbourne Cup long weekend will see the Picnic on again.</p>
