Shaun and Tracey Pask’s wicked ’33 Willys gasser...

NITRO METHANE

The “Nitro Methane” ’33 Willys started life in Southern California and is a product of Dave Goirdano, who was known for predominantly doing fibreglass bodied drag cars of the time and Shaun and Tracey’s ’33 was taken from a mould off the original Brasher, Cummings & Rose Coupe. After making its way to Australia with an original chassis, the car had passed hands as a project a number of times resulting in some extremely crude workmanship and signs of the body being stored and transported had taken its toll.

“When we purchased the body and chassis we completely stripped everything out and started again with a rough flopper body and bare chassis rails. The chassis was sent to Steve at Early Times where all the necessary work was done and he supplied all components to see it take form as a rolling chassis. Darren Cahill at Cahill‘s Speed Shop was entrusted to undertake the task of stealing the body out, install a floor, swing the doors and carry out numerous other fabrication jobs. From there it was brought home to be torn down for paint, detail and to reassemble the chassis in preparation to install the new blown small block Chev engine and Turbo 350 transmisision. A complete custom extractor system and exhaust system was fabricated by Dan Swanney at Prorrlodz Fabrication. Whilst we were doing the seemingly never-ending work with the driveline and chassis the body was sent away to Juice Walton for the monumental task of getting it back into shape and finishing it with a coat of classic white. Once this was done the body was brought home where we remounted it to the chassis and started jobs such as re-wiring. That enabled us to finally get to the point where we could start the engine for the first time and have a hot rod that could move under its own power.”
