During the medieval period, bathrooms used to be the opulent spaces wherein kings and queens used to indulge in the luxury of comforting as well as enhancing the beauty of their bodies. During a visit to any fort or palace, guides don’t forget to give people an exciting tour of the Kings’ bath often known as ‘Hamaam’, that could make any commoner envy. For a long period of time, bathrooms were not given their due credit as they were tucked behind the prying eyes making them something of a dirty place. However, the notion is now broken and bath spaces are getting rediscovered as well designed places wherein one could find all modern gadgets to soothe the body as well as the soul.
Top Bathroom Trends 2019-20

Mayank Sharma, Senior VP-Bathware, Somany Ceramics, shares, “The humble bathroom has an elevated status in today’s homes. From unique designer bathroom fixtures to advanced gadgets, today’s bathroom is no stranger to the perfect mix of aesthetics, functionality and technology.” In the words of Nikhil Agrawal, Chief Architect, Design Atelier, “Earlier bath used to be just a space to follow up daily routine but now the trend has changed where users look for an experience.”

“The latest innovations in bathrooms include smart fixtures such as water regulated faucets, LED touch screen mirrors, automatic cisterns, automatic water closet, underfloor heating system etc., These innovations also fulfill the criteria of environmental friendly accessories. It has led to growth in awareness regarding heath hygiene, water and energy preservation among the consumers, propeling the growth of smart bathrooms,” he adds.

In the words of Chirag Parekh, Chairman and Managing Director, Acrysil, “Bathrooms are turning into luxurious spaces. An evolution is happening in materials when it comes to bathrooms. Finishes including matt, rose gold, yellow gold, Gun metal etc are in trend. Last but not the least, the choice of consumer has become utmost important, who is looking for a good quality yet great in design product so that he is able to enjoy the time spent in the bathroom.”

Bathrooms are all about technology nowadays. The powder rooms in modern homes today are power-packed with technologies, be it a wi-fi enabled bath wall that could virtually turn into a phone or laptop or a toilet equipped with bacteria neutralizing ultraviolet light and a titanium dioxide-fired toilet bowl.
