Meraki was envisioned as a platform, which would allow students of architecture, to gain insight into the practical aspects of the profession.
Dr. Baliram Hiray College of Architecture successfully concluded the sixth session of their annual seminar series, Meraki, on 14th September2019 at Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak Auditorium, Mumbai. Last year’s theme, Futurewise, revolved around questioning contemporary architecture. In continuation to last year’s theme, the theme for MERAKI 2019 was ‘Interlacing Perspectives, which brought to us the relationship between architecture and the human body, and the questions that arise when exploring it.
It is an undeniable fact that the human psyche is affected by its surroundings. A thorough understanding of the relationship between architecture and the human body reveals that it is more than simply about finding the proper dimensions and placements within a space to “accommodate” its users and their behaviours within it. Meraki 2019 offered us a platform to bring together eminent practitioners into a dialogue. The diverse ideologies that all of them brought to the stage resonated to conceive an architecture that is responsible and inspiring.
Meraki 2019 invited a distinguished panel of speakers from across the globe: Ar. Andy Rahman from Indonesia, Ar. Nandini Somaya Sampat from Mumbai, Ar. Azim A.Aziz from Kuala Lumpur and Ar. Trupti Doshi from Pondicherry.

Bassist Of The Year 2019
At the London Bass Guitar Show UK back in September, we crowned the winner of this year’s Bassist Of The Year competition, in association with Orange Amplification. It was a close-run contest between our three finalists, who were chosen by Robert Trujillo, Stuart Hamm, Joe Dart, and Mark King—but in the end the victor was Leo De Santi, whose performance narrowly outdid the equally talented runners-up Marine Courtin, and Andreas Oxholm. All of them took home a much-deserved haul of Orange bass gear, but before they headed off to celebrate, we got interviews out of them!
