Offices are no longer just spaces to work from. A lot of focus is now being laid to ensure that offices are comprehensive and focus on not just comfort and higher efficiency, but also on wellness, both physical and mental. And large MNCs are trying to go beyond the basics and create office campuses that are also self-sufficient, with banks, cafeterias, prayer rooms, cafes, crèches and in some cases even a general store planned within the office campus. As Arunjot Singh Bhalla, Managing Director, RSP Design Consultants India, rightly puts it, “The role of the workplace campus is to strengthen relationships, and build community, culture, and purpose. Office campuses are, therefore, turning into community hubs, innovation accelerators, brand beacons, and a culture touchstone with a focus on sustainability, health, and wellness.” There is complete consensus that it is essential to create spaces of focused energy and diversity, one that uses real estate efficiently while maintaining high-quality amenities for its users. Yatin Patel, Founder and Partner, DSP Design Associates, adds, “Campuses today are expected to be far more human-adaptive and comfortable while also being technologically empowered as hi-tech and efficient spaces of commercial activity.”
