THE PREMIERE OF DESIGN DEBATE BY ARCHITECT AND INTERIORS INDIA AND HAVELLS TOOK OFF ON A HIGH NOTE IN AHMEDABAD!
DESIGN DEBATE AHMEDABAD EDITION

Curated by the city's leading academician, author, researcher as well as practising architect, Yatin Pandya, Principal Architect, FOOTPRINTS E.A.R.T.H. (Environment Architecture Research Technology Housing), a constructive debate on Traditional Design vs Technologyfocused Design gave a lot of food for thought and invited interest from the panelists as well as the audience. The interactive discussion kick started with a presentation by Partha Karmakar, Business Head, Professional Lighting, Havells India, on the role of light in improving productivity and comfort in spaces and showcased how technology could be smartly used to create conducive environments in all kinds of spaces. He shared, "When it comes to technology, most people tend to think of it from an engineering point of view and ignore the human aspect, which is what we at Havells like to do by marrying the two." He further reinstated that a deeper knowledge of tradition helped to anchor ourselves rightly. "It acts as the 'light house' which can provide the reference point in design direction and the choices we make," he said.

Architect Pandya further set the tone for the evening with his contextual presentation on the topic, Tradition vs Technology, which was backed with good humour, witty sarcasm while also being relevant to the topic. The words, 'While history may be a dead tradition, tradition remains to be a living history', got the panelists excited - a feeling that was seen throughout the first panel discussion comprising young next-gen architects of the city, including Pankti Shah, Co-Founder, Amogh Designs; Prashant Trivedi, Founder & Principal Architect, Squelette Design; Satviki Trivedi, Founder, Studiosatviki; Veeram Shah, Founder, Design Ni Dukkan; Jwalant Mahadevwala, Founding Partner and Principal Designer, And black Design Studio.
