Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) week eight, PBIEC, Florida, USA
TEAM competition returned to the showjumping calendar with WEF hosting the first Nations Cup of 2021 where the United States claimed a third consecutive victory, chased home by a bullish Irish squad.
Shane Sweetnam (Karlin Van’t Vennehof), Bertram Allen on Castlefield Vegas, Michael Duffy (Zilton) and Cian O’Connor with his relatively new partner Cadiz each opened with a fault-free round to take the lead at the halfway point, only to see the US jumping team of Lillie Keenan (Fasther), Brian Moggre with new ride Balou De Reventon, Bliss Heers (Antidote De Mars) and Jessica Springsteen on Don Juan Van Donkhoeve gain the advantage in round two to win by just three penalty points.
