Pug Rescue To The Heart Rescue
Canine Zone|August - September 2019
My name is Renate, and I’m a self-confessed Pug addict. Five years ago, I was gifted a little snorting black ball of fluff.
Renate Albrecht

This snorting sensation was fondly referred to as “Zoom Pug”, and this is where my love for Pugs began and most certainly didn’t end. Unfortunately, my beloved fur child was diagnosed with terminal cancer in March 2019 and passed away on the 20th of May after a marathon of trips to the vet in an effort to save our precious Puglet.

Given that Zoom was acquired from a breeder, we’ve been led to believe that he may have been severely interbred, which is why my beloved Pug was riddled with mast cell tumours at the tender age of five.

To heal my broken heart, I hosted close friends and family at a memorial service to celebrate the life of Zoom. Part of the memorial service requirements were for guests to bring dog food and blankets to be donated to Pug Rescue South Africa as a tribute to my gorgeous Pug’s life.
