SOMETIMES, out of a clear blue sky – or clear, cold water – something mysterious happens to fish.

When conditions look about as bad as it is possible to be, huge catches occur.

It obviously has something to do with fish shoaling together for a reason, because while those at the epicentre of the action have real red-letter days, most other anglers won’t see so much as a damaged maggot.
