"A natural oil healed my dry eye!"
Woman's World
|May 05, 2025
After struggling with itchy, dry eyes post-COVID, research led Sophia Pailov to castor oil, which eased her symptoms of swelling, burning and blurry vision.
-
Now, she uses it nightly, enjoying both restored eye health and longer, thicker lashes, making it an essential part of her routine
Removing the warm washcloths from her tired eyes, Sophia Pailov, 53, squinted at the clock through a blurry haze. Lying flat to rest her eyes for 30 minutes several times a day had continuously disrupted her work as a publicist and keto health coach.
I can’t keep doing this, she thought, forcing herself to rest despite many tasks still needing to be completed.
It had been two years since Sophia’s second bout with COVID-19. After recovering from the illness, she noticed her eyes had become consistently dry and red. During the day, she had to constantly press on her eyelids to relieve the pressure and painful swelling.
Her doctor tested her for underlying autoimmune conditions that trigger dry eyes—such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Sjögren’s syndrome—and each test came back negative. He suggested that she try warm compresses, resting her eyes and over-the-counter eye drops, which offered only momentary relief.
But her blurry vision worsened, especially after working on the computer all day, and sometimes, it kept her from seeing well enough to drive.

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW
From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays
The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
