Our speedy health helpers are key if you're short on time
-
Booked a last-minute bargain and feeling a little frantic about what to pack? While your beachwear and evening outfits might be all sorted, when it comes to taking care of your body and mind, there are a few quick tricks you can do to ensure a smooth holiday - wherever you're headed this summer.
Prep toes
No time for a pedicure appointment? No worries - ensuring you trim your toenails for your summer sandals is simple. 'Cut toenails straight across and not too short, using clippers, not scissors,' says consultant podiatrist Emma Supple. If not, you could end up with an ingrown toenail, where the corner of a nail grows into the skin and becomes painful.
Beat the bloat
Say no to ice-cold drinks. These slow the digestive system and lead to bloating. Have drinks at room temperature or sip warm water (with slices of fruit). Plus, cut down on salt before your trip. While we need some salt in our diet, lots of it can contribute to water retention and bloating.
Pack that book
Prone to motion sickness? Reading, or watching a TV show on the phone can bring on nausea because it causes sensory confusion, so save the book for the beach. Listen to an audiobook or music while focusing on a fixed point ahead.
