Caught in a CHEATWAVE?

WOMAN - UK

|

August 04, 2025

Following the controversy over that Coldplay gig, we look at why sign-ups to affair websites increase when the temperature soars

Caught in a CHEATWAVE?

Picture this: it's a balmy summer night, you're in your favourite sundress, you have a glistening tan, a crisp glass of rosé in your hand and the sound of laughter washes over you as you sit in a beer garden. You feel good, you look good and so does everyone else!

As soon as the sun shines on this normally dreary island of ours, life starts to feel more like a romcom. And a cheeky flirt - perhaps even a snog - with a man you just met might be on the cards, even if you're already taken!

Yes, it seems the sun has us throwing all sorts of rules out of the window, even when it comes to fidelity. Recently an amorous-looking couple were allegedly caught in a secret liaison at a US Coldplay gig - a kiss cam landed on a tech CEO and his coworker, who jumped out of each other's arms and suspiciously hid from the spotlight. Neither has publicly addressed the allegations.

Rising temperatures even send affair website sign-ups soaring, with a 58% increase during a recent heatwave. In a poll, 55% of new members also admitted they'd been considering an affair for some time but the soaring temperatures gave them the 'final push'. But what is it about the sun that has us feeling hot under the collar? Woman investigates...

'SKIMPIER CLOTHES, COLD BEERS, HOW CAN YOU RESIST?'

Samantha Brick, 54, is a writer who lives in Birmingham with her husband Pascal, 64. Going for a jog during a heatwave shows dedication to the cause. Or that's what I thought in my late 20s during a summery, sultry early evening.
