South Wales to bear brunt of heavy rain in yellow alert

THE Met Office has issued a yellow rain alert for Wales for today and Monday.

Heavy downpours are forecast for Wales, expected to start at around 6am today until 11.59pm, and from around midnight on Monday until 3pm.
The yellow alert for rain was issued yesterday. The Met Office said the areas affected were Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan.
A Met Office forecast for today is: "Rain, heavy at times, is expected to develop across southwest England on Friday night and spread northeastward during Saturday before clearing into the North Sea on Saturday night.
