Bluebirds faithful helped Mafico get through tough time

CARDIFF City youngster Dakarai Mafico has revealed how the Canton Stand’s reaction to his debut helped pick him up after a difficult first taste of senior football.
The 18-year-old was thrust into the starting XI at home to Rotherham United last month, but found himself in an unfamiliar left-back role.
After being booked and struggling to contain the away side’s winger, Brian Barry-Murphy decided to take the teenager off before halftime to avoid the risk of a red card.
Mafico admits the experience initially left him feeling low - until the Bluebirds fans made their feelings clear. Barry-Murphy previously said the fans’ reaction to his substitution was a “really important” moment for the player.
“I was feeling quite down about myself, but seeing the support especially from the Canton Stand really helped,” he said.
