West Briton Green energy device ready for tests at offshore site

A PIONEERING green energy device is to be tested this summer at Fal- mouth harbour’s bay site for off- shore renewables energy projects (FaBTest).

The Marine Management Organisation has approved testing and monitoring of the small-scale Demonstrator generator, which will be deployed within weeks.
Southampton firm Buoyant Production Technologies (BPT) will deploy the device between June and October, testing designs and technology destined to support floating offshore wind, subsea carbon capture and other offshore industries.
The Demonstrator's steel cylindrical hull has been built locally at APCL A&P Falmouth, while the topside equipment assembled in Haydock, Merseyside, has been integrated on to the Demonstrator in Falmouth in recent weeks.
