Gold ring and medal are declared as treasure

A POST-medieval engraved posie ring and a King James II 'touch piece' gold medal are among the treasures unearthed by metal detectorists in Cornwall.

The posie ring was found by Alan Williams in Carrick district on January 29, 2023, on land where he had permission to detect.
A treasure inquest held in Truro on Monday, June 2, heard that the Constantine Museum has expressed an interest in acquiring the ring.
The gold ring, 18mm in diameter and 0.5mm in thickness and weighing 2.3g, bore the inscription "If worthy, non so happy" along with the initials E.T. on the inside the gold band.
Posie rings are known to bear inscriptions that are secret to all but the wearer.
