Canada orders national security review of TikTok's expansion plan
The Straits Times
|March 16, 2024
Canada in September ordered a national security review of a proposal by TikTok to expand the short-video app's business in the country, said the industry ministry on March 14.
-
The potential outcome of the review, which could range from Canada asking Tik Tok to take mitigation measures to even blocking the expansion, could add to the company's growing woes.
On March 13, the United States House of Representatives passed a Bill to force TikTok's Chinese owner ByteDance to divest its US assets of the app or face a ban.

And at the centre of it all, a young person who felt alone.

A young Lee is a good gamble for the Lions
Over 20 years ago Sports Illustrated magazine made an entertaining, American-centric list of the Top 100 Sports Books Of All Time. At No. 9, hidden among tomes on baseball and boxing, was The Game. It’s on ice hockey, a game foreign to us summer folk, and yet all sports, whether played on a rink or a grass field, speak a common language.
