CWC 2025: South Africa look to bury demons ahead of crucial semifinal against England
The Statesman Delhi
|October 29, 2025
South Africa will walk into the first semifinal of the ICC Women’s World Cup against England at the ACA Stadium here on Wednesday haunted by memories of their nightmarish 10-wicket defeat in their tournament opener against the same opponents at the venue, yet buoyed by the resilience that helped them claw back into title contention.
Since that forgettable start, where England’s spinners ripped through their lineup to bowl them out for just 69, the Proteas have shown commendable grit to string together narrow but vital wins over New Zealand, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. But their old demons against spin continue to linger. In the final Group stage game against Australia, South Africa once again faltered, bundled out for a mere 97 in 24 overs, undone by Alana King’s leg-spin. Their struggles against quality turn and drift have left head coach Hilton Moreeng with plenty to ponder.

Our Invisible Self ~I
Any posture which keeps the spine erect is said to be good for meditation, according to Patanjali. By penetrating the third eye or concentrating at the space between our eyebrows, we can dive deep inside ourselves and experience the Divine. By doing so, we can also develop our intuitional capacity or the sixth sense. When the fog of ignorance is removed by meditation, we see the right path and see God. God is immanent in the infinite bounties and beauties of creation. If we stay tied to the mundane and the finite, we cannot move towards the infinite God
