The cyber law expert roped in as the special public prosecutor in the now infamous Durgapur medical student's alleged gang rape case, today said no mysteries now remain to be solved, as everything (in the case) has been understood.
Speaking while opposing the bail plea of four of the six accused, who were produced in the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's court today, the special PP Bivash Chatterjee said: "The victim girl, who altered her statements three times in the past few days, has now described everything genuinely, which has helped the investigating officials to proceed further and expose the specific involvement of each of the arrested individuals in the crime."
He added, "The state now wants to expedite preparing the charge-sheet for a quick trial of the case following the Supreme Court's directive." The bail plea was also opposed by the victim's lawyer Partha Ghosh on grounds that the test identification (TI) parade of the accused was still pending.
The ACJM's court remanded the four accused, including the boyfriend of the victim, to jail custody till 27 October. The two other accused, Riazuddin Sheikh and Safikul Sheikh, had already been remanded to similar custody three days ago after they agreed to give confessional statements, which were recorded yesterday.
