DOUBLE Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker is not having the start she would have desired in the first international competition of the new season. Competing in the inaugural ISSF World Cup of the year at Buenos Aires, Manu, considered as one of the country's finest shooters, has fired blanks in two key events. First, she finished outside the medal bracket (sixth) in what is considered her pet event (25m pistol) behind Esha Singh, who won a silver medal. On Tuesday, Manu could not even get into the final of the 10m air pistol, the event in which she had captured bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
