Though Idukki witnessed a brief respite from heavy downpour on Tuesday morning, the night-long rain which lashed the hilly district on Monday spread extensive damage.

A family comprising two kids near Neriyamangalam town escaped with injuries after an uprooted coconut tree fell on their house roofed with clay tiles on Monday night, partially damaging the house.

Santosh of Puthanpurackal house, his wife and two children were inside the house when the tree collapsed on it. The injured were immediately taken to a private hospital in Kothamangalam.
