Circa 2011: A group of young engineering graduates, who brimmed with ideas about their future plans, put their heads together to start an enterprise which would go on to become a leading player in the Solar Energy sector in Kerala.

SunnyDay Solar Hassle-free, Clean Electricity at Fraction of Cost

The brainwave that the founders—Anoop T M, Vishnu Prasad T, Midhun CK, and Arun PM—had, resulted in the setting up of Sunny Day Solar at West Nadakkavu, Vandipetta, Kozhikode. While Anoop T M, who passed out from Government College of Engineering Kannur, also holds a master's in Philosophy from Calicut University, the others including Vishnu Prasad T, Midhun CK, and Arun PM were alumni of Calicut University Engineering College.

Now, over a decade into its existence, Sunny Day Solar, which is presently run by a 35-member-plus team comprising engineers, MBA graduates, and other professionals, has gone on to become a top-ranked EPC in the rooftop solar segment. Its major brand recall ensures that Sunny Day Solar is one of the most widely preferred choices by those keen on going solar.

Said Team Sunny Day Solar, "We have 'solarised' over 2,700 homes and 200 plus businesses during our 13-year existence in the solar industry. The company is one of the pioneers in this sector in Kerala."

The Alpha School Project: A Daring Innovation

The Alpha Schools enterprise is a highly innovative experiment in school education in the US that commenced in 2014 based essentially on the use of AI. It is a bold departure from the traditional. Its essential features focus on personalised learning, efficiency, and holistic development. Founded in Austin, Texas, the Alpha School challenges the conventional modelwhere students endure lengthy lectures across fragmented subjects-by reallocating time to AI-powered learning and essential life skills. This for-profit private institution is crafting footprints in other cities. It also plans potential charter school integrations for broader access. It has at the same time sparked a debate: Is it a transformative force or a fleeting experiment?
