WhatsApp ramps up fight against messaging scams

WHATSAPP has announced significant steps to bolster user security. Through aggressive measures, including the proactive ban of millions of accounts linked to criminal networks, the messaging giant is striving to create a safer environment for its global user base.
In the first half of this year alone, WhatsApp said it had detected and deactivated over 6.8 million accounts associated with criminal scam operations, mitigating potential harm to countless users.
"The fight against scams is a relentless one, and we are continually evolving our defenses to stay ahead of bad actors," remarked Kojo Boakye, Vice President of Public Policy for Africa, the Middle East and Tiirkiye at Meta.
