What began as a satirical online campaign has evolved into a visible political movement after thousands of students, parents and young professionals gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday (06 June) for the first major public mobilisation of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), highlighting growing frustration among India's youth over examinations, recruitment processes and unemployment.
Wearing cockroach masks, carrying books, flowers and copies of the Indian Constitution, protesters transformed the capital's designated protest venue into an unusual display of youth activism that blended symbolism, satire and political messaging.
Organisers described the gathering as the beginning of a broader campaign for accountability and transparency in public examinations and recruitment systems.
